Friday Night Surprise The EPA is Waiting
Contributed by Robert Conselman of Campbell's Soup March 7, 2009
Hey Bob,
I had a huge Friday night surprise. After a hard day at work, I came home last night exhausted, with a terrible headache again, taking three Tylenols as soon as I came through the door. I almost decided to stay home but I knew we would miss the next couple pistol shoots so we went out anyway.
During practice my gun jammed twice which I finally figured out was a dirty clip packed with wax from the bullet tips, and the clip was not letting the bullets go up quick enough, and they would stovepipe on me.
When I finally got my turn on the plate table and the timer went off, I got 4 out of 5 the first round and then I cleared it the second time in four seconds. That made me know at least I would end up in the middle of the pack as usual and things looked brighter.
Then most of my other targets did pretty good except one shot when a bullet casing ejecting out of another gun during fast fire hit me in the ear and made me flinch. That put me off about 4 inches off bulls eye on one shot at 50 foot.
After they tallied all the scores, I could not believe they called my name as the high-score winner of the night out of 21 good shooters. I looked around at first thinking, I thought I was the only Robert here; but they were all looking straight at me. That blew my mind, so the Tylenols must have worked. I will probably never take first place again, but it sure was a good night. Thanks for letting me toot my horn for a minute. I can’t wait until you get off second shift and you can go with us again. I have to get going to work now, the EPA is waiting.
Love you all,
Dad
